Pair of Late 19th Century Jacobean Revival Carved Oak Armchairs with Original Studded Leather

£59500

A handsome pair of late 19th century carved oak armchairs in the Jacobean Revival taste, retaining their original studded leather upholstery.

The chairs are solidly constructed in oak with bold turned and carved front supports featuring carved bulb and strapwork details. The frames are joined by traditional stretchers and the arms terminate in padded leather rests secured with hand-applied brass studs.

Both chairs retain their original leather seats, arms and backs, now beautifully worn with a rich colour and natural patina acquired over many decades of use. The studded borders and heavy oak frames give them a strong architectural presence typical of late Victorian interpretations of earlier 17th century English furniture.

Comfortable and structurally sound, these chairs would work equally well in a library, study, hallway or as statement seating in a contemporary interior.

A particularly honest pair with excellent age and character.
