Large Edwardian Mahogany Four Drawer Filing Cabinet | Bank of Drawers | c.1905–1915

£24500

A handsome Edwardian four drawer mahogany filing cabinet dating to the early 20th century.

Well proportioned and solidly made, this is a larger example measuring 77cm wide, 60cm high and 45cm deep, offering plenty of practical storage. The four deep drawers are finished with fielded panel fronts, crossbanded detailing and brass drop handles, giving the cabinet a smart, understated appearance that would suit both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Originally intended for office use, today it makes an excellent piece for a home office, study, workshop or even a hallway or kitchen where generous storage is needed without taking up excessive floor space.

The cabinet has been lightly cleaned and waxed, retaining a good colour and the character that comes with over a century of use. There are the expected signs of age including light marks, knocks and minor loses consistent with its age, all of which contribute to its genuine antique appeal. One of the drawers pulls looks to have had some repair work.

A useful, well-made piece that's just as practical today as when it was first built.
