Antique Victorian Metal Clad Steamer Trunk | Late 19th Century Travel Chest | Red Painted Tin & Wood | Decorative Original Interior

£16500

A characterful late 19th-century Victorian travelling trunk, constructed with a timber carcass clad in painted sheet metal, reinforced with exposed wooden battens and substantial blackened metal straps and fittings.

The domed lid, original carrying handles, lock and heavy hardware all add to its wonderfully utilitarian character. Inside, the trunk retains its original decorative printed paper lining, including a surviving period portrait panel — a particularly unusual detail.

Dating to around 1880–1900, it shows plenty of honest age, wear and patina throughout, with the marks and imperfections you'd expect from a genuine piece of travelling history.

A fantastic decorative storage piece and a particularly good example for collectors of antique luggage, trunks and travel-related furniture.
