A rather extraordinary late 19th-century cast-bronze ship's ventilator, weighing approximately 16kg, originally designed to capture and distribute fresh air aboard a large vessel.
The substantial bronze casting retains its original aged marine patina and has been mounted on a chunky piece of reclaimed oak, with the original oversized bronze securing nut retained and displayed. The bronze itself has been left completely untouched.
Sympathetically converted into a sculptural table lamp using warm LED illumination, with discreet period-style twisted cable. Wiring can be easily removed if a stand alone sculpture is preferred.
A genuinely unusual piece of Victorian marine engineering with an equally unusual second life.
