Beautiful solid oak Glastonbury-style armchair, with strongly carved Arts & Crafts and Gothic Revival influences.
The chair features an extensively carved back, including a central quatrefoil floral motif, pierced geometric decoration and distinctive curved arms. Constructed in solid oak with traditional pegged joints and a wonderfully substantial, architectural form.
The previously dark finish has been stripped and the oak refinished with a clear wax, allowing the natural grain, carving and character of the timber to show through.
A striking and highly usable piece of antique furniture, equally suited to a reading room, study, bedroom or as a standalone statement chair.
