19th Century Late Qing Elm Side Table - Plant Stand

£17500

A characterful late 19th century Chinese Qing Dynasty Elm side table - plant stand featuring a square top raised on four straight legs with a waisted, openwork carved apron.

The pierced decoration shows a stylised cloud/ruyi motif, a classic element of Chinese design associated with harmony and good fortune. The carving is bold and slightly rustic, giving the piece a strong decorative presence.

The surface shows extensive wear consistent with age and use, with minor loses, beautifully dry, timeworn patina throughout. This gives the stand an authentic, well-travelled look that works perfectly in both traditional and modern interiors.

The construction is solid, with traditional joinery and internal supports visible to the underside.

Ideal as:

•Plant stand

•Vase or sculpture display

•Low side table or accent piece

A genuine, honest piece of Chinese furniture with real age and plenty of character.
