1943 British War Department Desk Chair – Beech Military Office Chair with Broad Arrow Stamp

£18500

An original WW2 British military desk chair, dated 1943 and stamped with the classic broad arrow mark of the War Department. Made by J. H. & Co. Ltd, this was issued for use in military offices, map rooms and administrative workspaces during the Second World War.

Constructed in solid beech, the chair has the honest, functional design typical of wartime production – upright, dependable and built for daily use at a desk or writing table. The frame is jointed in the traditional way with a slatted beech seat and square legs, carrying inspector codes including “IW” and “CVI”.

Good vintage condition with age-related wear, surface marks and patina consistent with military use. Structurally sound and sits well.
