Antique 19th century victorian ironbound pine ships chest - steamer trunk, State line. A quality handcrafted chest with a tapered profile for added stability whilst on voyage. Dovetail joints throughout with rope carry handles and lined interior to reduce water ingress. Original shipping label remnants referencing state line, from my understanding this was a service that offered voyages from Glasgow/Northern ireland to New york from around 1870.
A nice example in solid original condition, age related wear/patina as to be expected. Comfortably strong enough for seating.
