A striking mirror created from an early 17th-century Jacobean carved oak overmantel panel. The deep geometric carving, central roundel and bold borders are typical of early English craftsmanship, with centuries of patina and hand-cut oak boards clearly visible to the reverse. Later mirror plates allow it to function beautifully while preserving the original architectural character.
Carving Details
Classic Jacobean motifs: trefoil leaves symbolising growth and protection, a central rose-like roundel associated with prosperity, and Renaissance-inspired strapwork showing the status and craftsmanship of the period.
