Authentic Chinese low cabinet dating to the late Qing dynasty, constructed in solid elm with a rich, naturally aged surface.
The cabinet features a traditional arrangement of shallow upper drawers above panelled cupboard doors, all retaining their original brass fittings. The low, elongated proportions are characteristic of kang tables and platform furniture, originally used in domestic interiors for storage beside raised beds or seating platforms.
The surface shows heavy/honest wear, oxidation and patina consistent with age, with no modern finishes or artificial distressing. Drawer interiors reveal hand-prepared timbers and traditional construction throughout.
A genuine, unaltered piece of Qing-period furniture that works beautifully in contemporary settings as a low console, media unit or window-side cabinet.
